Optix in Richmond is your best bet for Vancouver and area.
As for props, might be better if you can find a propsmaster who will help you out for a nominal charge (eg. a 6 pack) since you're a student.
I highly suggest against "Guerrilla film making" especially considering the manner of the props and intricities around them. Guerrilla film making may cut it for revealing some social issue or what have you but it doesn't cut if for props like these since it will end really really *REALLY* badly if someone calls the VPD/RCMP/ERT.
