Seeing a you are new to airsoft I'd track down someone with a chrono and test the gun first before doing anything to it. After 1000 rounds your spring should be broken in, if your not shooting consistant 370-380's then your compression is low and replacing the Piston head O-ring and possibly the air nozzle should get you up to spec, I have Worked on many G&G AEG's and the O-rings are really hit and miss BUT a healthy (solid compression) Premium model G&G mp5 will run consistant 370-380's without a spring change.

The clearsoft piston heads of the G&G are not the same as the normal ones... there is 6 holes in it (like normal pistons) but there is also a twisted funnel into the face of the piston. That makes the piston head hit only by center and 6 tiny, 1mm wide "branches". The piston outer ring (ouside the funnels) just explodes and bits are shot everywhere (barrel, mechbox, body via the vent hole). This leads to a sharp, star-shaped piston head. The head o-ring has nothing to hold anymore and is shredded to pieces and shoot out the gun (jamming BBs sometimes). The cylinder head is also shreaded by the sharp edges and rubber fly out again... at that point, your gun shoots under 100 fps and you have to change a bunch of parts (piston head, cylinder head, usually hop-up rubber and if you are not lucky, piston, gears and inner barrel).
Oh, by the way I am reparing the guns at Surplus IG... I think I have a bag full of piston heads like that. It is to the point where the shop decided to replace the piston heads with Modify POM instead because it is cheaper to buy a good head that 3-4 G&G ones...
