I am curious if anyone plays in light rain or snow? If so, does it damage the gun, magazines or get into the battery?

Yes many play in rain/snow, No it wont damage the gun as long as their isn't many holes for water to get into the gun and you disassemble and clean it after to prevent and oxidization(rust and such).

For safety reasons, do not use lipos in the rain, just incase it has a tiny hole and water gets in the battery storage. I use lipos in my AK, they are safe used correctly but I'd never use one in the rain.

People from what I've heard have problems with PTW's in the rain or high humidity due to the electronics inside. This is only anecdotal though.

Playing in snow (or cold weather) isn't advised as you run the risk of cracking your mechbox due to the cold.

Rain in a regular AEG should be fine as long as you don't have any gaping holes where a significant amount of water is able to get into the gun.

Nothing anecdotal about it. It happens all the time unless the owner has taken the extra step of waterproofing the PTW's circuitry.

I find it funny, My $300 JG was running at one game 100% and all the ptws there were barely working at all, just a little humidity too, not much.

I play my SCAR last winter at Red Tiger's back yard. I abuse that gun so much and dump into snow a few time and it still fire well. It's really surprised me for some reason for the quality of the gun.

AEG's with V3 mechbox are the best ones for cold weather, -5C and below, V3 boxes are probably strongest ones on the market but if you stick to semi auto and short bursts even V2 mechbox should be fine unless your gun is shooting 400FPS or over. My 390FPS V3 gearbox used to get soaked on regular basis, survived at least 3 winters and still runs fine. Also, high capacity battery is a good investment if you are planing to play in cold weather, batteries die faster in cold.

paintball guns smoother the electric boards with a pink paste: Dow 33, it doesn't allow current to pass through it and keeps out all the moisture. You guys with the circuit boards might want to try that stuff. You can get it at paintball stores; its called Smart Parts lube.

The cold will be more taxing on a battery, but if you get a nice quality batt with a large capacity MAH you should survive the day just fine.

If your AEG does get wet I would recommend giving it a good wipe down when you get home, if you have the knowledge, take it apart down to the mechbox and give everything a good once over with a nice dry cloth.
