What Boots you use in Airsoft?

Hey everyone, during the course of this season one thing I have noticed is a real increase in ankle, and foot injuries due to lack of proper footwear.

I had a couple close calls early in the season which made me realize Rothco boots are dangerous to rely on. This prompted me to go out and purchase a set of Wellco ACU Gore-tex boots; which not only keep my feet dry but feel a lot more supportive.

Given the number of injuries this year I am kinda curious to see what other airsoft players from around canada are using, and if they have noticed the same trend. Maybe even spread awareness that this is a very important piece of kit.

So what boots do you wear to an Airsoft game?

I used to use the CF standards, then the CF Goretex (I think they're called prospectors) now I'm using Oakley SIs. I wear them pretty much 24/7.

Good old Canadian forces std issue.

The main reason I got them was that I was tired of rolling ankles in sneakers.

Haven't done it since.

Original Swat. I've had the occasional scare when I hit gopher holes down south, but nothing bad to report. They are 8" or 9", I don't recall. But they will need to be replaced next year as they are wirn down pretty good, but structurally sound.

I wear a set of Steel Toed Dakota full height work boots good ankle support

i used the rothco boots, when they get wet the soles slip out from under your feet, which can result in severe ankle injuries!
so i switched back to jungle boots i had until i got a pair of Altama EXOspeed desert boots.

My Rotcho boots have worked awesome for me. They also took me to the top of Mt. Timpanogos (13,700ft). What have gone wrong with your Rothco's?

Ducky October 6th, 2007 14:48

They fall apart, they are not ridged and wont stop your ankle from rolling in any situation. They are exactly what you should expect of a $20 boot, that being said EVERY ankle injury this year happened to people wearing Rothco boots.

ThunderCactus October 6th, 2007 14:50

I concur, every i know has broken atleast 3 sets of laces on theirs, and they're ALL falling apart

Hmmm I have noticed my sole crumbling away but other than that there fine. I'll keep watching them.

Lets see , I use issue black U.S. speed lace, Danner Fort Lewis , Bellville ACU,Boulet desert, speed lace desert, black speedlace jungle, magnum tanker boots, white U.S. vapour barrier boots in white with air valve,

An old pair of Jungle boots.. Combined with an "Active Ankle" brace on each of my legs.

After running away as the prisoner @ the Ranch OP a while back.. I decided bionic ankles would be a very good idea.

Steel toe suck for airsofting. It jabs your foot when you kneel. Mine do anyways.

12" Danner Ft. Lewis. Fantastic boot. Gortex and insulated, but I have no complaints about excessive heat in the summer or lack of warmth in the winter. Walked through a knee deep stream in them once. Water poured in through the top and my feet dried out in about half an hour. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Brit ter October 6th, 2007 15:17

I agree with dark , I have had my danners for five years , I have had them resoled once and they still look and work great
