Tm or CA G36 which is the better?

I've been interested in airsoft for sometime now and now can afford to get into it.I now have the problem of selecting my gun,i've fially narrowed it down to a G36,I really like the CA model with the built in scope but i've heard alot of bad things about the quility of the CA models, also i haven't been able to find out if TM mags and CA mags are interchangeble.Just wanted to throw this out to the public to see what you guys think.

TM all the way.
CA G36 look nice, but they have a lot of littles thing that need to be fixed out the box.

A TM G36 is a better investment IMO.

Everywhere I hear that the CA is good yet you will need to invest alot in maintenance and modifications.

As a first AEG I'd rather keep it simple and on top of that, the TM costs less.

GunMaster March 19th, 2006 19:12

I agree wth Fox. If you don't mind fixing the gun pretty much right out of the box then go with CA, but if you are a beginner and do not want to worry about fixing internals then the TM is a much better choice.

The only real problem that I can find with the research on the CA36 series is that you may need to lube the gearbox or take some of the lube off, as well with the TM model if you want that sight you need to buy it $102 cad from red wolf before taxes, ship, etc. so really all I can say is what look do you like better the ke or the c. if ke go CA if c go TM.

A vote for CA, since my own experience has been largely positive. Some little stuff to watch out for, like the others have said, but CA guns do come out of the box just fine a lot of the time.

Then there's the Star G36, which you should check out, too.

swatt13 March 19th, 2006 22:15

i have a tm 36, its pretty fing nice, but the ca does have a metal body which is cool. as a starter gun does i dont think youll be using the gun to its full potential, so a ca would probably do just fine. they designed it to run the way it comes. when you start modifing it, thats when i think a tm would be better.
but, imo, i would actually check out the star 36. if it half as nice as their star, it would be a good buy. but then it boils down to pricing.

Someone has the star G36 on special right now, 550$ if I remember correctly. It's one of the retailers listed above, can't remember which.

Isn't the real G36c supposed to have a polymer frame? ABS plastic resembles more to polymer than metal.

I am personally in favor of the TM. Once I gather more experience in airsofting then I will start exploring the other brands.

CA G36 dont have metal body...the body is made of ABS reinforced with fiberglass.
As for little things to fix, i didnt find any on my G36k, everything is A+.
CA G36 are as good as any TM G36C

All of the poeple that replied here give points to CA or TM because they OWN the gun not because they really know the difference. I suggest you read good review before buying. Personally I'd go over Classic Army one because he's as good as the Marui one with the same material use but as an advantage you get 7mm metal bushing. Meaning you don't have to spend another 20$ on a set of bushing to upgrade your TM. And like every CA gun they tend to shoot harder out of the box. They also have reinforced mechbox if you intend to put a very strong spring upgrade. And no Fox CA gun are now perfect out of the box. I think you refer to a very old bashing thread about CA you old grumpy ;p. But no now CA for the past year makes perfect guns because they changed every model.

The choice is yours. You can get a CA 36 for less than a TM if you shop a little bit. Or you can save 5$ and go over TM buying from a common shop.

That's a little insulting, I do know the difference between a CA36 and TM36, and I'm sure others here do as well. Check the other G36 thread in this section, I've already said that CA shoots harder than the TM. It's not even a "tend to" thing, all else being equal, a properly functioning stock CA will always shoot *at least* 10% harder than any TM version of the same gun, usually more. You also forgot to mention that CA always comes with a hicap, TM a locap (Star comes with a midcap, kinda funny that way  ).

You seems to be fairly new but an hi-cap ain't a bonus for most of the players.

For someone just getting into airsoft and people who skirm more than milsim (which is a lot of people), I'd say it is.
