King Arms M4A1 - Battery fitment
 

Hey guys,

I just got my first airsoft gun today, the KA M4A1! So far, it shoots amazing, incredibly accurate.

One question about the battery fitment though, my gun came with a big 8.4V battery that will barely fit in the front handguard. Does anyone else have this problem/an easy way to put the battery in? Or would I be better off investing in a nunchuck battery?

First, you shouldn't post link of getting guns outside the AV'ed zoon...

Secondly, there are 2 types of common 8.4V battery:

Large type (size roughly 160mm x 50mm x 25mm) and Mini type (roughly 120mm x 30mm x 15mm).

What you have is actually a Mini type. The actual large type will never fit into a standard M4 handguard. Using a Mini type 8.4V or 9.6V inside a M4 handguard is common before Lipo become popular.

Whether you should buy a different battery depends on what you plan to do in the future: Do you plan to install an RIS or something and put the battery else where? (Come on, this is part of the fun of airsoft, "dressing up" your guns, especially an M4.) Do you plan to change to lipo (and use a lipo charger) in the future?

Ah I really don't want to upgrade before I even attend my first game haha. I was just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences because I didn't think a stock battery would be so difficult to fit.

I'll look into the lipo batteries then unless anyone can suggest a way to fit the battery easily :P.

Don't think about the first game, think about in a year or two... Besides "dressing up" a gun generally don't count as upgrade.

What are the dimensions of the battery you have problem fitting? And the mAh? Do you have a picture or a name of that?

It's apparently 1100mAh, it's just 7 small batteries attached, one of them horizontally and at the top. Like this one: http://www.torontoairsoft.com/FireFo...ini_p_599.html

And you're right. Long term, I would really benefit from battery upgrades, but I don't want to spend if there is a possible way to fit this easily, like by removing some parts or taping the battery to the barrel or something.

Inside your handguard, there are 2 pieces of metal, shiny "heat shield" (one in each handguard pieces), each heat shield piece is being hold by 2 screws.
You don't need the heat shield in airsoft gun, they are just for looking and more realism. See if removing them makes battery fitment easier.
If you only have one battery (no chance to swap batteries), you can leave it inside the handguard semi-permanently (and tape it there if needed), just pull the connector out to recharge, and leave it that way till you get other batteries or other handguards.

If you're not ready to move to lipo, the best batteries that can fit in M4 handguards are the butterfly type 9.6v.

Alright I'll probably remove the heat shield then, it just said "do not remove" on it so I was a little hesitant LOL. I'll probably try taping the battery too. And if I do decide to change batteries, I'll go for the butterfly 9.6V ;).

The "do not remove" is also for more realism. (they copied that directly from real M4 heat shields)
