m203 farting sound?

so i got a new m203 shell from hero army surplus, after coming back and excited to try it out i tried to pump it with propane and to my surprise the shell made a giant fart noise and sounded like it was rejecting gas. what is wrong with it?

any way to fix?

Thenooblord May 21st, 2013 20:07

did you set it before gassing it?

solidgear34 May 21st, 2013 20:11

how do i set it?

Reset the grenade by pushing the firing pin in all the way until you feel it click. Afterwards the firing pin will sit flush with the base of the grenade and you can then gas the grenade.

If it's the first time using said grenade for awhile make sure it's oiled properly. I'd recommend finding a guide on how to disassemble said grenade and oil up the o-rings if you can before applying gas.

clicked it in, i felt a click sound and tried again, still sounds like a massive fart when i insert propane :/ and still rejecting gas

Sounds like the valve isnt reseting make shure it sits flush with the bottom of the nade bottom. If you dont have the tool kit sometimes its a bit of a pain. Depending what type of nade it can be a bitch to rebuild without the tool kit as well. But for sure if the valve isnt flush with the bottom itll vent the gas when you try n fill it.

well from what i can see when opening it all it has is a main block, a spring, and a push button that supposedly releases the gas :/

so upon further inspection i seem to be noticing a small lack of bearings in my shell(where the valve is ) is the bearings important?

Hectic May 21st, 2013 21:13

Yes it needs the bearings or it will not hold the gas. As far as i know the bearings hold the valve in the locked/closed position.
Maybe Coach will chime in but im sure thats what they do.
What kind/brand of shell is it. You may be able to buy a rebuild kit including the bearings. But seein as its new id complain to the retailer for an exchange/refund.

thanks hectic, i think i bought a "house brand shell" not sure what exactly its for

coach May 21st, 2013 21:33

Post a picture.

You need the bearings to hold the valve in place. If they are missing, you got a lemon. Take it back.

solidgear34 May 21st, 2013 21:57

ya i got a lemon, thanks for the info coach. but are there any places that sells the bearings?

Hectic May 21st, 2013 22:26

Cang really tell you without knowing the kind of shell it is. A pic will help with that. I think the madbulls have a rebuild kit that contains the bearings. Or atleast you can get the bearings. But seein as its new id talk to the retailer.

used the bearings out of a piston head once it matched the POM that i traded for. good luck
