e's Tokyo Marui Glock 22: "The Bowie Tactical Concepts Hybrid"

Right....This is probably my last build for a long while. I'm broke...

I'm not going to lie. Originally, this gun was a return from someone that bought off me (I apologize once again). Turns out the SA House piston head just planed sucked. Can't seal for beans.

So I decided to rework this whole thing and give my most beloved and longest running Glock a nice facelift. I took my oldest Tokyo Marui Glock 17, put in the new internals of the return gun and put a sweet slide on it and BAM!!

The parts list:

The Frame assembly:

-Guarder "enhanced" Frame in black
-Freedom Art silver extended magazine catch
-GunsModify extended slide catch
-GunsModify "Salient Arms" aluminum adjustable trigger (<sigh>)
-GunsModify extended slide lock lever
-GunsModify Zero Hammer Version 2
-KM Head Stainless Steel Sear
-KM Head Stainless Steel Valve Knocker
-Shooter's Design Hammer spring

Slide Assembly:

-Detonator Glock 22 Bowie Tactical Concepts Slide
-Detonator Hybrid barrel
-Detonator Heiny night sights
-Tanio Koba Hop Twist Inner Barrel
-PDI W-Hold hop up bucking
-Airsoft Surgeon Loading muzzle with piston head
-RCC power up cyclinder buld
-Shooter's Design Recoil Spring with custom made second stage rebound spring
-Shooter's Design recoil spring rod
-Custom made floating valve spring
-Custom made BBU

The gun is tuned to shoot at 335-340FPS with 20g. BBs and propane.

Custom work Done:

-The slide and Frame has been custom fitted for fluent slide stroke.

....ah screw it. There's a lot of work that was done. Let's just leave it that. lol.

So here it is. This is my take on Tokyo Marui's Glock 17.

Before:

After:

This Glock 22 has silver hand controls to off set the black a little bit. I'd prefer them to be not so chromy looking. The plating on some of the parts like like cheap chrome paint. But whatever.

I chose the Detonator slide and barrel set because of the drop in readiness and lightweight-ness. I wanted a very light slide assembly. The custom BBU is made of aluminum and weighs approximately 22g and helps achieve this goal. The barrel to slide contact point is very minimal.

All hand controls were chosen for ergonomic pusposes. They are all extended and raised so to make it easier on the operator during operation.

The Airsoft Surgeon Super Hard loading muzzle was chosen and modified to give a prolonged life expectancy of the loading muzzle. It's piston head provides a tight seal but also glides around the loading muzzle effortlessly.

The magazine uses a KM highflow blowoff valve with variable strikeface heights. With the KM Valve Knocker, it gives the gun some added firepower. The gun clocks in at 335ish FPS.

The outer barrel is a "compensated" outer barrel. In airsoft, this helps reduce the weight of the front end of the gun. Not by a lot but it's there. But with such a lightweight front end, this particular Glock is prone to a high muzzle flip and hard nosedives.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse4856d9a.jpg

The internal recoil spring is custom fitted with a secondary spring much like the ones that are found on the Hi-Capas. The gun's slide catch is still functioning but the slide stroke is "sort of" shortened.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8efc2c3d.jpg
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps469866c6.jpg

The slide is a nice aluminum slide is quite easy to work with. It requires no modification. It's lightweight aluminum and when coupled with a lightened BBU, the slide stroke is quite snappy and crisp.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83816b4a.jpg
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6787bfe8.jpg

The frame on this gun is modified specifically for the Detonator slide. There is no wobbling of any kind. The slide to frame contact points have very little friction. The GunsModify Zero hammer has been modified and preemptively worn to reduce the contact friction between the BBU and the hammer bearing.

Radio active sights for night use. lol.

This gun utilizes ILLusion's dry lube technique. Basically fine graphite powder and some grease. Rack the slide a million times with the mixture and then wipe off. This method is now my preferred way of lubing things because it doesn't clunk up like grease does and attracts no dust.

I'm really really.....really hating the look of that Salient Arms trigger. Looks like sux on this gun....

Anyways, that's it for now.
See you next build kiddies!

I don't really like any silver parts on a Glock.

You really need to do a stipple job on that frame, otherwise it just doesn't look right for a Bowie pistol.

e-luder April 25th, 2013 11:27

I was too lazy... It takes quite a while for me to stipple. I started the stippling on another frame though. Maybe I'll swap it.
I did one a while back but I sold it. I've been meaning to do one for a while though.

The silver is just something I prefer. Most of my guns have a two tone color scheme...

e-luder April 25th, 2013 11:30

But you're right...

The stippling is what makes a Bowie Tactical a Bowie Tactical....

Invasian April 25th, 2013 11:33

Thats one HAWT build dude!

Monkey King April 25th, 2013 12:20

Really nice bro...

jordan7831 April 25th, 2013 16:13

Dammit E, now I want a hybrid glock! I have a huge soft spot of hybrid guns.

Danke April 25th, 2013 18:05

I had that slide and the AS Surgeon one on restock alert across the board for my build project.

GolfCharlie April 25th, 2013 23:03

E, that is a SOLID looking gun! I was actually thinking of a custom build like that!

Dont know why though...
WGC still has them up for sale.

I HAD the AS hybrid version of this slide. I looked much cooler. but It's not nearly as nice fitting as this Detonator kit is. Illusion Kinetics sells the hybrid slide set that I really really wanted but i missed the production run....

Jordan, just buy the slide set man. in my honest opinion it's worth the 2 bills.

...or you can buy this gun.
I promise you, it'll be the LAST Glock you'll ever buy!!!
LOL...

The coin toss was based on which came into stock first. I had the AS slide and 90% of the pistol done before the Detonator restocked.

I did toy with getting it to try out and build up a 2nd pistol to try back to back but I couldn't double the budget and even when I wind up not using something too often I have emotional trouble selling the surplus.

Yeah tell me about it....
I have frames and metal slides that I can't bring myself to sell.

I stayed away from the AS Kit because quite frankly, I personally hate the aesthetics of that slide. Plus, I didn't wanna deal with fitting it properly. Plus everyone has that damn Salient Arms kit already.

Broken out the soldering iron yet?
