Getting C7A2?
 

Looking through all these threads on C7A2s, I'm wondering if there are any Canada-legal companies that produces C7A2 airsofts?

I'm in the CF, so if I could possibly use a familiar gun rather than using another gun for airsoft, that'd be great...

All I see is people modifying them from a M16 or M4 so it would look like C7A2s..

Not sure if any companies put out a C7A2, so you'll have to make your own, or look around the For Sale threads(get age verified) and see if you can find one someone made.

That G&P one is pretty much a M16A4.

Not to my knowledge, if you don't want to make one, best thing you can do is hope someone that made one is selling theirs and you can buy that.

Not even close to a C7. Only reason they call that thing a C7 is the Diemaco receiver, which has the export trades (UK, Dannemark, etc) and not the CF trades.

I'm new to ASC, posting the picture just so we can be on the same page (because I honestly don't know if everyone know what C7A2 is, I have friends asking me "What? you're in the Canadian army? CANADA HAS MILITARY?")

Anyway, that leads to the question: How hard is it to modify one into C7A2 airsoft?

Depends on the accuracy you want, and if you're looking to do it on a GBBR (gaz rifle) or AEG (electric rifle).

I have the G&P Canadian Carbine. It's definitely not sold as a C7, it is sold as a C8 (and has the markings for a C8). By far the nicest thing about it is the trademark powder coat paint job that G&P does on its receivers. Very very nice. As far as I know G&P isn't making a C7 or planning to.

To accomplish this I'd personally take a different route..

It is possible to find M4s with blank trades (I have one and they're out there). Once you have a blank-trade M4 receiver in your hands, there are people on this forum who can do perfect-looking laser engravings and such to make your trades say whatever you want them to say.

For these sorts of things you will absolutely need to get age-verified to get anywhere with it. You will find people who can point you in the right direction (even if it takes a few oddball out-of-the-way steps) if you post in the AV areas on this site.

The rest of the stuff, Elcan sights, correct-looking stocks, handguards, and Canadian-style mags are extremely easy to find. If you have your heart set on a certain receiver that isn't offered on any retail gun however, it will take some doing.

BTW, take your time with this and try not to over-spend, especially before you get AV. A lot of the parts you need are really quite affordable as long as you work through the classifieds.

It will also help if you fill in your profile a bit so people know where you are.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Getting C7A2, another reason is obviously the Diemaco receiver, to be as realistic as possible.

Is modifying airsoft guns legal in Canada? How can others identify the airsoft gun apart from real ones? Obviously I'm not going to walk around the city with it, just a curious question.

From a glance? You can't. If you look into the details you can notice different finishes, different/incorrect trades, or variations in dimensions from the real stuff... but otherwise no. It's legal to modify though, AFAIK.

No company currently makes any of our C series rifles, as the end user, you buy the gun and correct it's deficiencies. It can take time, a fair bit of it, but it's strangely satisfying having a gun that you know nobody else has. For example, I've seen many C-7 and C-8 builds on here, some VERY convincing, some piss poor attempts, yet as far as C8's go, most people side track and decide they want rails and stocks and out of place muzzle peices. My C8 happens to be the only C8 I've seen that managed to stay on track. It can be a long and, to be honest, hassle filled road to build it though, so as someone new to the sport, I'd suggest just learning to play and getting used to it, put your C7A2 project on hold for now.
