help with badass grenadier kit?

so I'm wondering if the rare, the few, the proud people running 40mm "primary" setups can give me some suggestions for a load out arrangement?

I'm taking delivery of a new GLM 6 banger begining next month.. and I plan on carrying enough 40mms to reload it 3 times (nobody tell the wife how much THAT will cost! LOL )

plan at this point is

- molle ciras style vest
- 2x TM Desert eagles on drop legs (left and right)
- 6x DE mags (2 loaded, 4 waiting)
- GLM
- 18 40mm (6 loaded, 12 waiting)
- 2-3 throw grenades

what I'm wondering about is keeping reloading the GLM as streamlined as possible ... any suggestings on pouchs, dump pouch ... I play outdoors (no it's not my main load out, it's for fun/certain sims) so the pouchs holding the waiting and spent grenades is pretty important ...

also some suggestions on 40mm nades? I know that for outdoors the c02 powered Madbull and King arms are pretty much my only choices for good nades.. but I know some of them also are too big for the launcher... so I'm guessing between 70-100 round units are my best bet?

thanks

A damn good dump pouch should be on your list (dump the spent shells in and keep your speed up). You can either get rid of one of your drop leg holsters and replace it with a dump pouch or find a dump pouch that connects to a belt.

Get a few 40mm shingles:
http://www.sordusa.com/shop/home.php?cat=24 (their send time is pretty quick and shipping is cheap - quality is tops and they're used by Australian SF).

That or a 40mm bandolier:

I'd do a combination of both.

I'd honestly ignore the ciras vest and go with a smaller plate carrier or even straight-up molle chest rig. You'll need as much additional weight reduction as possible instead of weighing yourself down with more kit.

As cool as that is..do you really want to run TWO desert eagles, a Grenade launcher AND a ciras?? Yikes... that would be hard to play in.

On topic, I would say if your set on the ciras use that to mount your DE mags, throw grenades and maybe a few shells. Then get something like this : http://www.rstacticalgear.com/pd-bds...-bandolier.cfm

I think his plan is to never move faster than three steps a minute ;)

Yea but with the spread and range of a Grenade launcher you're going to HAVE to get closer than the average gun ;)

What if you chose a lighter, smaller vest, or just ran one pistol? Even just going to one DE, and using the other drop leg for a dump pouch or just your pistol mags would make it a lot easier to move..

I was just looking into getting one.
Where are you getting your...?
I wanted to order right from ebobby, because it's not a rifle... lol
It might go though customs...

Firewalker May 5th, 2011 13:26

It's not a rifle because it's a prohibited item. Try your chances if you want.

Drop the deagles, get more shells on your legs.

Drop the CIRAS, get a lighter rig so you'll be effective.

No, it will not lol. You would have to get age verified then get it from a retailer. If GL's could be imported I'd have myself a GP-30 by now...but sadly they cannot

he is verified...

there are a few retailers doing custom orders...

on topic;
I will suggest a dump pouch and madbull co2 grenades.

Oops, my bad. But also, why 3 throw grenades? If you have a vest full of 40mm, why even bother with them? If you ditch those, you would leave yourself with a lot more options as well, and less weigh/bulk

actually I've run my twin DE's as primaries already for over a year, I'm just fine with them on the field ;) the launcher will be an add on to what I'm already used too.

doesn't HAVE to be a ciras, I'm just not a gear whore I don't know all the different names to all the different vest names, basically a whole flat molle front panel .. some on the sides, hydr holder on the back... molle up the shoulders would be nice too.

I've got a buckle up the front molle vest ... but the buckets take up valuable space.. and the vest is less then spectacular "rigidity" wise (read: CHEAP .. but it's help up great for over 2 years) .. good for movement and breathability... not so hot for loading up with pouchs

Having the dump on a drop leg = belt room for a grenade belt.

More grenade ammo = more hilarity when you're walking through the woods yelling "GET SOME *pfoomf!* GET SOME *pfoomf*" etc.

You really don't need two deagles, just get extended mags if you're worried about ammo. Plus you can fire one deagle while running the launcher in the other hand.

Honestly, you'd want to make mobility your primary focus. A ciras is just going to weigh you down. A small plate carrier (Shellback Tactical/ TAG's banshee or Tactical Tailor's modular plate carrier) would be better for your mobility.

Looks don't always equal functional. Sometimes what you think might look badass will actually suck so much when you try it out.

---

Lack of rigidity in a vest is important for mobility. If you're attaching pouches correctly (weaving them through all the PALS on the pouch and vest) then they'll stay there and be quite decent.

Two deagles as primary is fine. Add a 2kg beast to that and you'll be wishing you didn't have another two guns.

drop the desert eagles
use king arms 96 round shells on propane, and keep them stored with propane in them.
You think startup costs are high? Wait till you start having to rebuild shells.
Luckily KA seems to be the only manufacturer that actually sells rebuild kits, but you'll find the shells need to be rebuilt every 4-12 uses at $12 a shell plus shipping.
And if you don't store them with propane in them, they need to be rebuilt every time they sit without gas for a month.
