What causes a Valve leak on GBB?
 

Hi, im just curious, what causes the Mag to leak from the valve??

I just bought 5 prowin mags hoping i will never have to worry about valve leaks etc. now it just started leaking from the valve

How much silicone oil are you applying to the propane tank before filling?

I think i may have put too much, this would make a lot of sense. I fixed the issue by using paste grease and rubbing all over the o-rings.

dried or damaged orings and seals are the reason for leaks.

you need to keep them well lubricated. over lubing could possibly blow them out of their seat but that's much less likely.

edit: gbbr mags are huge compared to gbb mags. use more oil in your propane adapter

Hmm. i think you're right about the lubing o-ring issue. These are new mags and probably had only slight amount of lube left on seal. I will note to lube up the valve o-rings as much as possible.

paste grease is much better option for lubing o-rings vs silicone spray correct?

Oil is light so it works it's way in on it's own in aerosol style when mixed with the gas. The paste grease you need to tear things down and feed in yourself.

I have found the best way to take care of my gas mags is to use them. Sometimes I'll go out and use one of the oddballs that's not in regular rotation and other times I'll haul all the gas hardware out for a few hours of practice prior to a game. Just to run gas and lube through them.

no, as Danke mentioned, you need to tear down a mag to do that with grease. It's a waste of time and you risk damaging the o-rings on re-assembly.

get a bottle of AI's gbb oil. a few drops goes a very long way.

keep the o-rings moist with the light weight gbb silicone oil and keep the mag pressurized with propane. does not need to be full but enough to get a few rounds off. on an empty gbbr mag, give it a 2 second fill.

Are you applying the amount that I told you to when you picked up the Gungas kit from me with the mags?

3 drops in to the tank for every TWO GBBR mag fills.
