Strengthening a broken Stock
Hello ladies,
I have a CA G3 OD stock and guess what: it's broken. In the eventuality I wanted to fix and strengthen this broken stock just for fun, what would be the best way to go, provided the end result should look exactly like the original stock: you can't paint it, you can't sand it, you can't add visible bolts ;) my initial idea was: will it be stronger and fieldable if I fill it with some kind of resin, or even concrete? (concrete would be heavy and rigid, I like this idea.) thank you. |
Fiberglass And Resin would be my first choice second would be trying that metal putty they sell at Crappytire I know someone on here made a front grip for their AK with it. Other methods would be Carbon fiber/Resin if you can get it. And lastly find someone who does plastic injection moulding and get them to make a replacement. I know there is a place just outside North Bay that does Injection moulding As soon as i find the name ill post it.

Sand inside with relaly rough sandpaper. cover broken part with JB weld.
I'm not sure how its broken, but i just made a magwell for an AK out of JB weld. Its tough. |
heya,
sooo I though about using the metal putty, but its sticking capabilities are limited, ands since the plastic isn't very thick I was afraid it would be too weak. I couldn't find any JBweld at my crappy motherfudgin street-corner Rona (are they subsidised? or a government store? because God, do they suck, do their shelves look like a communist store with just a few very expensive products. ) so I got some structural epoxy (I guess it's close to JB). it's fixed and looks, okay, I'm ready to bet it'll break soon though. dry epoxy is shiny though, so I had to add a quick layer of matte varnish locally. pics soon. |
