1911 pics

Almost done, just waiting to get some engraving done. And if anyone knows what Recoil Spring Guide will fit a WE1911, that would be helpful.

very nice!!

RacingManiac October 10th, 2008 12:26

what did you do for the finish? Looks very good....

Gato October 10th, 2008 12:29

That is THE single most sexy peice of metal and wood i have EVER seen!

the_griffinator October 10th, 2008 12:47

It looks awesome. What did ya do to it to get it to shine like that?

crocket74 October 10th, 2008 13:10

Thanks.
The finsh was done with 180 grit sandpaper and a wire brush with a dremel tool to remove the paint. then I wet sand it with 320 and 600 grit sandpaper, and polish with number 6 cleaning & polishing compound from canadian tire.

Drake October 10th, 2008 13:52

Nice job!

As for the recoil spring guide it just sits in there loosely, so there's a few options. I managed to use a WA and RS part, and Marui ones should work too (as long they aren't the full length variants).

Personally I kept the stock one, chopped off ~3-5mm from the tip and rounded it off with a dremel (grinder), sanded, polished; keeps the guide from breaking the recoil spring plug and bushing.

RacingManiac October 10th, 2008 14:25

how is the finish holding up? I imagine that is some sort of pot-metal which will tarnish over time?

crocket74 October 10th, 2008 14:31

yes It does tarnish pretty quick.
when it does I clean it with bluemagic metal polish.

DC_ACU October 10th, 2008 15:37

shiney :)

Cassius October 10th, 2008 18:13

you inspired yourself from Krame's? Very nice mate

ProbeJax October 10th, 2008 18:34

What's that trigger?

Muffin October 10th, 2008 18:37

Well done man, the chrome sexes it up.

Dao October 10th, 2008 19:15

Looks a lot like my Nine-Ball, though I think Tanio Koba and Nova and maybe even PDI makes that style as well...

crocket74 October 11th, 2008 12:33

It's a nova trigger from redwolf airsoft, but I had to mod it a bit to make it fit.

Shirley October 11th, 2008 12:58

That is hot. Wowwww

westbon October 13th, 2008 03:18

Very nice gun guys, I also got one 1911, I think it's not totally same with yours, but... just for fun, :D

Sorry I did not want to open a new topic for my poor 1911!

Styrak October 13th, 2008 03:33

Just from the angle, or because the knife is there, that 1911 looks small to me.

No idea man, this is WE 1911, I think its size is the same with other, maybe caused of the knife!!

Doc October 15th, 2008 07:17

i had a box of random KJW P14 parts, and i actualy replaced the recoil spring and guide with the KJW one. it makes it look alot better when the slide is locked back. pm me if you want pictures

unfortunetaly, it dosent lock in like the stock one. but no problems so far, i shot over 300 rounds with it like this, the rod is still in its proper place.

westbon October 17th, 2008 12:50

I used extra strength nail polish remover and 000 steel wool for paint removal on mine. I don't know which is easier, since my paint was off long before I found this thread.

@Crocket74: thanks for posting pics and your polishing methods: it's made my pair of 1911's far brighter than I'd originally done.

max.power October 18th, 2008 17:16

Man, that looks sweet. If I still had mine, I'd do it. Makes a nice show pistol.

F!reStorm* October 18th, 2008 17:24

Nice! Always wanted to know if these grips would fit well on a airsoft 1911.

scarletsnake October 24th, 2008 09:48

Thats very nice. I personally prefer 1911s without rails, but whatever! That looks awesome!
