New Stock TM M4a1 (new type) problem
 

Brand new out of the box, I'll list the parts:

1- TM M4A1 -(New type)
1- 1400Mah Intel battery


Followed the instructions correctly, back to back with friends TM AK47, his powers up fine using a 3000Mah Large battery.

The TM M4a1 does not.
a few have said possibly a loose connector? Or could it be that the battery is hooked up wrong? (Seems only one way to do it, as instructed by the manual)

Manual calls for a 600mah Mini... However posts on here recommeded the use of a 1400Mah mini

Umm, be a bit more specific, its not doing anything at all? Is the battery charged, motor leads attached, fuse blown?

More you tell us, more we can help you diagnose

Battery is charged - "Motor leads attached" "Fuse blown" any way for me to check these?

All I know is the parts I have from Mark + the new out of box rifle, and the manual... I guess I could open her up completely to check the internals... but is that really a requirement for something fresh out of the box? ;)



- No noise, etc, no power - everything else looks fine. Cables for the grip are completely intact as far as I can tell.

Just unscrew the grip plate to check on the motor leads, make sure you keep track of the silver disk and it goes back in the proper way when u close it up again.. Fuse should be in a case right near the battery lead, open it and check that as well..

If you have no luck there and its a new gun, id look to get ur money back or another, or take it to a gun doc, a few in TO so your in luck.

unscrewed the grip plate - all wires look fine, 2 copper wires connected to the motor - Red wire, black wire are also fine. Fuse looks fine.. I figure it would be black/burnt if there was a problem with it.

I'm going to aim for defective battery here...


Any Gun docs available? :)

when i got my m4 i had the same prob so i saw a gun doc. and it turned out to be a bubble in the connectionand not the battery.

Yea, its probably something like that - I don't want to have to send the sucker back, as its a lovely gun.

New type too, which fixes a lot of the previous issues with older m4's - Hopefully it is something that simple and i can avoid the whole refund dance.

ya its a good gun once its fixed it workes like a dream.once i got mine fixed havent had any problems sence

if you dont know how to check a blown fuse you probably shouldnt be 'opening' the gun to check the internals.

Well, fuse on this one was located in the upper grip, browsing deeper into the manual tells you how to locate it. But you're right, I do not have enough experience with these rigs to be fixing my own NEW gun :P

i wish someone would have told me not to open my mechbox, but hey that was 3 years ago, and opening it that first time made me take the time to learn how it went back together right, so sometimes its for the best.

just depends on how technologically inclined you are i guess. :)

Yea, if it was a computer system I would have no problems... but this is unfamiliar territory - much better suited for a Gundoc ;)

Fixed, Dead charger - and ice cold battery that needed some time in the oven.

Seem to be an electric trouble...

1. Start to know if the battery is giving you some power. Use a 12 volt light bulb and you will see if the battery is good!

2. next step do the same thing, but this time do it by using the fuse between the bulb and the battery. That will tell you if the fuse is good!

3. Do the test on the motor, remove black and red wire from the motor and take the motor out of the gun. Use other wire to plug direct to the battery, than you will see if the motor work fine!

4. Pray!!

Charger problem
 

It turned out to be a bad charger. Don't know what the make it was but it wouldn't detect/charge any of the batteries we tried on it (his dead one and a number of my known good ones).

The battery that he had read 2V and my BBbastard NPT charger wouldn't pick it up either. Tried a known good battery and his M4 worked like butter (I had forgotten how quiet a stock gun is!!).

We put the battery on a plain-jane wall plug trickle charger ($7 rc wall plug charger) for a bit. It then read 9.6V after 10-15min. We then put it onto the NPT charger, which did pick it up, and finished the charge (it read 10V right after the full charge, isn't that a bit high?). It worked well (only tested 1 mag) through his M4. Hope it keeps going strong!

The charger he had definitely wouldn't pick up any of the batteries (freshly charged, partially discharge, etc...) no matter what setting/combination of settings we set it to.

So all's well that end's well and he can go stumble around in the dark at the Zombie game this weekend!
