4 Attachment(s)
Hey I got my ACU kit for christmas figured i could show a few pics. I love ACU i wasnt sold on it when my mother got me ACU, I wanted 3 colour desert. Note people never send someone who has no clue with out pictures! This is a Ranger Rack with some Molle pouches.

pugs144 January 18th, 2006 21:17

Nice!

Phalanix January 18th, 2006 21:41

Welcome to the club!

Sure_Shot February 6th, 2006 19:46

Yah i also wear ACU and it fits in with pretty much everything.

BC_K February 6th, 2006 19:49

Sock just curious, How many friggin different sets of camo do you have?

You screwin the camo fairy?

BTW, Nice gear, Really like that pattern. The colours look really nice.

Vince February 8th, 2006 19:54

Nice set, but personnaly I'm not a fan of the ACU. At first (in 2004), I was excited about an all-condition camoflage. But then, when I saw the final result, I was kinda disapointed... Some further tests disapointed me more. I doesn't blend that good in most environement wheter it's desert or woodland. The colors are too light for a dense woodland environement and too much foliage green for desert environements. I personnaly tested it with a ACU patrol cap compared to 3color and woodland. The older pattern where better. Then I found some article about "Skorpion" pattern (known as Crye Multicam). I you're looking for THE all condition pattern bdu set, Mutlicam is the answer!!! It blends breatly in both arid (not that good in real desert) and woodland. Haven't tried it personnaly but I found a test over the internet at www.militarymorons.com
simply the best camo to me, even compared to USMC Marpat.

Anyway, nice set :)

Phalanix February 8th, 2006 21:25

A generalized pattern will never be as effective as a camo that's designed for a specific environment.

But still, ACU is still A Cool Uniform. :D

Lerch February 8th, 2006 23:45

Very nice setup, now you need some grey cam cream

Btw, what's the large pouch on the front of your rig? Just a dump pouch?

SockMonkey February 9th, 2006 03:11

Sort of its actually a but pouch but thats my SAW rig and i needed somthing to carry the "crap" in. Or if im running with my M4 its a dump pouch. Next time out ill bring it and you can have a look if your there. Ive actually figured out how to rig an X-harness so next perchase is the X-harness and hydration panel.

Boom! ACU! ;)

Just updating the ACU thread a little...photo whored a bunch of pics at this past weekend's game. Early spring at the Wasaga field, blended in pretty well.

ACU Photos (mostly on pages 4-6).

gandar March 27th, 2006 13:06

Nice shots. I could see this time of year being good for ACU, as well in the late fall....

SockMonkey March 27th, 2006 13:07

Looking fine guys! Im really thinking of getting a helmet/cover seing how sexy that looks i really think i will! damn you!! more money sacrificed to the airsoft gods!

Phalanix March 27th, 2006 13:50

That's what happens sometimes.... airsoft makes you into gear whores.

Kimbo March 27th, 2006 15:31

What do you mean...sometimes.

Just got my ACU and fielded it this weekend. I think it's pretty good for this time of year with a little snow kicking around.

Farmboy March 27th, 2006 16:35

I though ACU was horrid when I first saw pics of it.

We just had 2 guys from the US Army up to do a seminar, and after seeing it in person I have changed my mind. Again it's a great general pattern, not a specific one, so it has to be treated as such.

TAG and HSGI are now being offered in ACU as well for those who have accepted it like me :D

archer 6 March 27th, 2006 17:40

wasnt a fan at first, then we got a set for the sqaud, not bad. not bad at all.

Awesome pics phalanix, i think im sold on acu now.

Phalanix May 2nd, 2006 08:19

Considering how ACU blends in with dead foliage pretty well, I think it's safe to say if the US has any sort of future engagement in wooded areas, they'll just bomb the hell out of it first.

SockMonkey May 2nd, 2006 11:48

ya on the last pic if you didnt centre the camera on the person i wouldnt have been able to find him as easily. lookin good baby!! getting my ACU bladetech in a few weeks!! mmmmm chest mounted acu holster.......

Phalanix May 2nd, 2006 11:53

There are actually 2 guys in ACU in that last picture. Although the 2nd guy may be harder to see due to the resolution of the picture. But even in the full resolution photo, it's pretty hard to see.

Oz May 2nd, 2006 20:00

that third shot is fantastic man! I'm actually amazed at how well ACU works in the fall/early spring. I may not be sold yet, but the more I see it the less I hate it..

Oh, and damed you for selling me on the bladetech sock! I need it for this weekend!

Let's start the Aculigious Fan-boyz!

Phalanix June 14th, 2006 12:21

It's an old thread, but it's a continuous one. ;) w00t!! More followers for the darkside... er, I mean, ACU!

Foxe June 25th, 2006 09:32

Phalanix, can you tell me what vest does the ACU guy in this pic have: http://www.darkaperture.com/gallery/032506/alf

Phalanix June 26th, 2006 10:25

That's me. *lol*

I was wearing a body armour by Tiger Tactical, and a SDS FLCV with AITES pouches.

Edit: Oh, and a CamelBack M.U.L.E.

Nabisco_Lobstrosity July 10th, 2006 11:15

I bought an ACU uniform. I was curious about it, and I dig camo patterns.

My own ACU uniform looked terrible for a woodland environment when I first got it. I said the same thing as many opponents of the pattern - "it's too bright / grey". It took me a while, I but I finally figured out how to make ACU 'work': I have to wear it.

haha that sounds so dumb! My point is that the pattern picks up with general use - grass and dirt stains are transforming the material into an extremely effective pattern. I think that explains the unusual color choices.

Pretty soon, I think it's going to be perfect. I thought that was cool, anyway. None of my other camo patterns are so ... sciencey.

Vince July 10th, 2006 12:38

I bought a set too... Even if I'm not an ACU fan I'll give a chance to the pattern and got it for 30$ so... But I'll be convinced after some games.

ace team rifleman September 6th, 2006 12:00

I'm using an acu uniform, and I've been training with a friend who also wear acu. from my opinion it's realy good! If you want the acu to be really effective blend it with an other pattern. Like woodland pattern for woodland environement , an 3 colors pattern
for desert environement.

Funny I was writing this reply when someone knock on my door, it was post canada with a parcel. It was a brand new pair of acu troussers. :)

acu rock!

 the "tree" one isn't intended to show pple that i can hide behind things but to show how acu works by drawing on other colours

here are the revised pics of where i am...completely visible so don't waste my time by saying "we all know that when you hide behind things people can't see you"

The thing with ACU is that, you have to KNOW how to conceal yourself to the surrounding (and colours). Good job matching yourself to the surrounding... ;)

Replica airsoft ACU gear are kicking in recently - but probably still low in quantity (especially in Canada).

As for myself, I got my stuff off Supply Captain, Recon-Tactical, Entry Gear, eBay, etc.

Issued IBA cover under a SDS FLCV, Aites mag pouches.

[Lithium] November 7th, 2006 10:23

well, as you said supply captain makes has acu. ICE Tactical has soem of it as well... If youre in Vancouver, Urban military has ACU baseball hats and boonies. theres some ACU stuff on panther that ive seen. Also, look at US cavalry ( http://www.uscav.com ) as they have a decent amount of stuff as well. http://www.galaxyarmynavy.com . they have ACU as well.

herr baron November 7th, 2006 10:30

Wasnt much of a fan either of acu but some of these pics make it seem much more effective, but still lets see when your trying to hide in low evergreen :) but still the americans will be a step ahead when theyre fighting on the moon!

Yes, I will, and the Pic is me behind the Tree, But you cannot see my AC'Ewe'. She's Dra-aahhhh-ped in camo and later served with a nice Mint sauce.

The Dutch are famous for their wooden shoes, (great footwear for water assaults, and easy to paint by number camo styles) but they are not recommended for CQB or stealth entry.

Being an obsessive asian, this is what I patched together, there's more coming by mail order soon. Most of this is bought off of ebay.

Multicam was too expensive, and not suitable for the temperate rainforest climate we have in Vancouver, and Marpat didn't appeal to me (looks too... er... gruntish?)

ThunderCactus July 2nd, 2007 00:58

I've bought ALOT of ACU from alot of different companies and everybodies got a different style of ACU
rothco = total BS
blackhawk, tactical tailor, AITES and SDS have slightly differing shades of ACU, you can really only tell when your close up. the sand color on the rothco BDU's are more white than sand color.
It may not be the most effective camo in daytime, but it's the greatest night camo ever and its by far the most professional looking lol

Zeonprime July 2nd, 2007 01:02

ACU is a really bad night camo... its much better in the daytime. when my reserve unit went down to Virgina to train with the American National Guard they had ACU and during night raids the ACU really stood out compared to the Cadpat TW we had on. it was like white on black.

ACU (real issued) is ideal for a urban Desert setting as well as situations where there are alot of dead fall and sand like the pictures above.

im pro for ACU, i really like it dont get me wrong its really great, but you need to have the right enviroment in order for it to work. like with any camo and you need to know the color of your surroundings and how to use the camo in your enviroment.

some of our troops in A-Stan are wearing Cadpat TW on night missions because of its darker color then the Cadpat AR

^^^^^^^I'm bringing sexy back ^^^^^^^^^^^:D

Trader 762 July 18th, 2007 17:23

OK, now I'm researching camo and here's what I noticed.

US Army enlisted personnel, have to BUY their own uniform???

Its great to know that we can pick up official issued gear, but then again, its no different then working at say McDonald's, they all have to pay for their uniform.

Right now I'm leaning to what ever I can get with ease that is official issued clothing and ACU seems to be the clear winner right now, but I do look up to the US Marines.

Problem is, its hard to get a hold of issued MARPAT, I take it you can buy new issued ACU clothing?

Even CADPAT, but just as hard to get a hold of a new set.

Whats that saying? Whats the deadliest weapon?

"A Marine and his rifle."

Ah Jarhead, gotta love that movie.

Its true, I have read it also, don't remember where but it was somewhere discussing the change over. But they do get a clothing allowance, and it was adjusted to match the price of the new acu (more expensive.)

You might wanna try some of that non-stick self-adhesive tape. They have some in ACU. Haven't used the camo one but I've used the white stuff for years (it was originally sold as bandaging material; very useful on pets). Anyway, dirt eventually clings to it a bit, but it won't stick to or leave sticky residue on whatever it's wrapped to. And it's reusable.

lol ya tactical tailor invented that AFTER I cammed my gun up lol
If I re-cam it I'll definitely buy the cam-tape, but I was just going to leave it as an HK11 for the time being and have the whole gun painted.

Awesome loadouts. It is nice that people know that ACU looks awesome in a full loadout!

Every time i come to this thread, I get teh sudden urge to go out and buy a full acu loadout.. Even though i cant even play!!!

ACU is sex.

Everytime I see ACU I feel the urge to look through the classified section. I really have zero interest in the sports section, so you can have them. Lol, I can see ACU being pretty decent in winter though, seeing as how it sucks everywhere else (unless really dusty and dirty).

Actually, it becomes pretty dark in winter lol
You can see how dark my gun and LBE harness get in that winter pic. Where it really has an affect is at our ranch, tons of birch trees, and the real ACU really collects the color of your surroundings. If ACU was as bad as wearing black, JSOC would be doing nowhere near as well as we are lol
