How could I attach a flash hider/muzzle break/suppressor without any threading on my barrel? Attachment 50235

Interference fit.

What's it off? The end piece might be threaded in, so you can get an adapter to adds threads.

beta678 January 11th, 2016 23:25

Looks like the end of a VSR10 or clone, should be able to take it off and install a threaded -14mm adapter.

Might want to let people know what gun it is.

And get a picture that's actually in focus.

Here's a better picture Attachment 50246

cetane January 14th, 2016 16:17

Not much a better pic, but I'd be willing to bet the end cap is threaded in. Probably superglued in, but threaded. I can't guess if it's a cw or ccw thread though

Invoke ghost January 14th, 2016 16:27

There is no end cap. It is simply not threaded.

Is that some kind of bull barrel on some kind of AR build? Is your barrel that diameter all the way back to the receiver or are we possibly looking at an already existing attachment that you could just replace?

Some more information on what make/ model your gun is, and some more pictures of the whole thing/ front end assembly (that aren't taken in a dark room with the flash on) would really help.

Have the barrel cut down & threaded. Few min job on lathe. Just would need to be removed from rifle.

Where can I get this done? And thanks.

Where are you located? any machine shop should be able to do that for you. If your within the gta area, I could maybe do it...

I am in Ottawa Ontario.

Would it be a good idea to use a hand die? And what hand die should I use if I were to use one?

ThunderCactus January 16th, 2016 20:10

You would have to first turn the barrel down to the correct diameter. There's no way you're doing this without putting that barrel on a lathe.

Invoke ghost January 16th, 2016 20:40

This should be easier.

Buy a new barrel for easy mode.

Kos-Mos January 16th, 2016 23:07

Got a 20" barrel I bought specifically not to have threads one.

If you want threads, buy one with threads... It's going to be cheaper than the lathe work on your existing barrel.

Kozzie January 17th, 2016 07:13

Yep, buy a threaded barrel.

shadow_matter February 2nd, 2016 18:16

If you are really cash strapped you could consider epoxying it on. Challenge with this is 1) cannot remove it and if you do you will probably damage both the suppressor and barrel and 2) will be difficult to line it up perfectly with the bore axis when installing without threads.
