Favorite Vest?

In the market for a new vest, and I'm looking for educated opinions. I've owned a few in the past. Some clunky surplus thing, a made in China CADPAT RRV, and a Multicam CIRAS. I found the chest panel on the RRV to be a bit high on my chest, and it hit my neck when I crouched down. The CIRAS was too much vest for airsoft, considering there is no need for strike plates, and I found the adjustments to be excessively complex; requiring the whole vest to be opened up just to make a small adjustment.

What do you guys think?

I run the multicam CIRAS (not sure which brand.. 0_o), great, comfy carrier as I don't use it with plates. Adjusting is a bitch though. Still think it's a great vest in my own opinion.

Tasmanian Tiger chest rig mk II. I've had this one for a couple of years now and love it. It's light with tonnes of real estate. It can easily fit 8 pmags in the mag pockets, the upper flap can fold down and it has an inner pocket for a plate or sidearm. The side pouches fit my tools and refreshments perfectly.

I bit the bullet and went to an all molle (vest+belt) platform. It wasn't cheap but the customization makes me smile all the time.

Simple, and fairly lightweight.

I dont know why no one suggests this but if you want simple, go with a FLC. theyre cheap but theyre good. theyre not L33T and high speed and shit but they are moddest and effective.

I went the other way though and got me a SORD plate hanger. a triple mag pouch by eagle and a canteen with a kangaroo hydration on the back and thats it. May add more to it though.

HSGI Warlord. I have had the V2 and V4. I prefer modularity, so I have stuck with the V4.

I had a Denali years ago that had the extraneous frag and 40MM pouches removed. Loved that rig.

A Warlord lathered in Tacos is the ultimate. Took me quite a while to gather up all of them.

Ditto to this. I absolutely love my TT MK II chest rig. It is close to perfect for the way I like to run my gear not to mention it is affordable for what you are getting. Two other similar rigs that I really like are the BDS Tactical V-OPS rig and the HSGI Weesatch.

The Cool thing about ordering a rig from BDS is that you can customize them and pick the exact options you want in the configuration you want.

There are also quite a few plate carriers that have come onto the market that I really like the looks of. My favorite being the Crye JPC and the new Crye Adaptive vest system.

I second the vote for the 6094...just waiting until a pile of money falls in my lap for a real LBT

No, I ran 4 mags in the front for over a year, and I don't think it's necessary to run other things. If I were going to a milsim where I had to carry all my ammo and stuff with me, I would bring a backpack.

That Ten Speed is interesting. Watched some videos on it, but I think I'm pretty set on the WSH. Suits my needs and works with a variety of mag types. My new gun is a SIG 552, and the SIG mags are a bit bigger than the M16 mags (I think).

I've been running a HSGI Silverthorne in OD. Picked it up for next to nothing on sale while I was in Italy.... things a pack horse! :D

what does anyone think of the tectac plate carrier coming out this fall by 5.11? i think it looks good and at 199 its gonna be seriously competing with the banshee. if you look at the 2013 shot show footage it has some really nice features.i currently run a condor plate carrier and i find it cheap and poorly designed.

I bought a Flyye 6094 and I'm loving it. Best PC I've ever worn. The JPC is a very close second in my opinion as well

I personally run the WSH, and I love it.

It's versatile without being overly constrictive, easy to adjust, plenty of MOLLE estate, and comes with built-in multipurpose pouches. I can fit about 2 mags into each, and if I recall correctly, there's 7 of them, so 14 STANAG Mags are good to go right off the bat.

I usually use one slot for a radio, and a couple others for general other stuff, and it's a really good rig. Holds plates, too, if that's your thing.

For chest rigs the TT mav is probably the best bang for the buck. Well made , not complicated and readily available.
Im kind of partial to my Patriot Performance Materials Patroller Chest rig(previously Tactical Assault Systems) , its similar to a 2 piece mav with an extra row of pals and velcro on the top of the rig for name tape/flags. It comes in slightly cheaper aswell but alot harder to find.

Plate carriers with mag capacity I would say the HSGI Woo/wee/wasatch's are really good for the price. HSGI build quality is fantastic and the price on these is excellet.
I currently own an Sotech Callahan and although it is very good there are some design features that could have been better.
Plate carriers with no mag capacity , the TT carrier is great , good amount of pals channels and good price. TT's typical build quality aswell.

For Loadbearing belt/harness its kind of tough to recommend one as most of the good ones have been discountinued.
Iam currently using a Voodoo Tactical sniper belt and although the price is great the quality is only ok. Quality is on par with condor I would say.
That being said I used to own a SORD patrol belt order and although the quality was very good you had to use SORD specific pouches to set it up to its full potential.
First Spear (some of eagles designers) have a really good looking setup right now but the price is pretty high for a belt/suspenders setup.
Older pieces that are good (and harder to find) are the Spears ELCS (base rig , is similar to the FLC) , the LBT loadbearing setup (cant remember its name) and the BlackHawk Strike LBE which is similar to the LBT setup.

The FLC vest is cheap and three camo are available
Woodland, DCU, and UCP.

I preferred the TAP (Eagle's Tactial Assault Panel) can be fitted on IOTV, TAC-1 or other body armor so that your pouches are not attached to the body armor yet it doesn't increase the number of straps over your shoulder).

I wear a CADPAT MOFCR from CP GEAR. Excellent vest with manueverability and provides easily access to pouches. I use this in a FIBUA (CQB) and Field enviroment. I have recently added a battlebelt feature to this vest which makes me self sufficient for a 24 to 48 hour stay in whatever enviroment I am fighting in.

The adjustable straps allow you adjust the vest for a comfortable fit.

I also have an Arid Tactical Tailor vest which is designed a little different then MOFCR but is lighter. Gives easy access to pouches.

Both vests are comfortable and molle which allows pouches to be added and removed. I love the the out side panel of the MOFCR which is on both sides of the vest. It is a good spot to store a pistol and gives easy access. By unzipping the panel I can have my pistol out in seconds as oppose to a holster (no loss mags either)...the other panel is used to store maps and admin book etc.

I have been running a specter chest carrier for a bit now and I really like it.

I run 4 fastmags, a lightning dump pouch and a utility pouch with my radio on the molle yoke. It serves me well.

Meh. As an owner of a Vietnam Era CPLA SKS Chest Rig, I can say that even though it's awesome just because it's PLA Surplus, it's not that 'modifiable'.

Static pouches, barely any adjustment in the straps, not to mention an unconventional and, frankly, quite uncomfortable way of wearing it don't really make it a very good vest to begin with. The fabric is really sturdy, but with bamboo buttons and needing to tie two straps behind your back to put it on, I can't see it being practical in a modern field.

The other two are decce, but more modern stuff is better, IMHO.

All depends on what kind of kit you want to sport ;) For a old highspeed, low drag chest rig, nothing beats a chicom. And the M83 was revolutionary for its time, and is still used all around the world!

Running the EI SKD all molle chest rig. Might be putting my Flyye Wsh up for sale soon. Dunno yet

My favorite vest is the Tactical Tailor Mav. At first I did not like it too much. But since I installed as I wanted to love it. TT MAV 2 with Adapter CENTER MAV, MAV Bib, Enhanced Admin Pouch TT, TT X Harness and 4 SDS SAW pouch 200 rounds.

Running currently a Multicam Ferro Concepts FCPC Assaulter best plate carrier I've owned doesn't hinder my movements at all and very adaptable
