KA M4: Mag Recommendations?

I have heard that Magpul PTS PMAGs work well with this but does anyone have any experience with any other mags? Which ones work well?

Moonschlagen June 19th, 2012 16:08

I'm assuming you want mid-caps. Why don't you try the actual King Arms brand mags? I have the metal ones and they feed awesome in my M16. Granted, it's not a King Arms M4 but I'd give 'er a shot!

M.Garcia June 19th, 2012 16:16

Yes like I'm assuming these would work; http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1425

However I'm looking to get some input from people who actually use the gun and see what has worked the best as there are some known issues with mags and this gun.

+1 to KA mags. They've worked well in all the guns I've put em in (including KA M4). Plus they come in 5 packs for easy buying.

I have 4 or 5 KA plastic midcaps I don't really need, since my VFC hates them. If you want I can give you them for really cheap.

I dont really know, about other people but from all my experience, KA mags NEVER feed in KA guns, especially if they are stock, Ive owned KA M4s ever since they started making them starting with the Troy CQB A3 M4 back in 2008, the Hi-Cap mag that comes with the gun never feeds in the stock gun. also ive tried KA midcaps with the newer KA M4s such as the stock base model, the M4A1 and they still dont feed.

Pmags Work Amazingly well with all brands as far as I know. you should also give Classic Army Magazines a try. their Midcaps and Hi-Caps are awesome, for all I can say they are made better than their Guns.

Never tried G&P mags but they should feed pretty well. Dboys which is an ACM brand their 416 "type" hi-cap magazines feed really well also!

I use ka mags and magpul pmags in mine. The ka mags only feed up to 30 rps but as long as your rof is lower than that, youre fine. SRC mags will feed too but they wobble in the reciever more than I care for.

Interesting... I will hold off on purchasing mags until I can test them out with other's mags. Where would you guys suggest purchasing Magpul Pmags from?

Short Round June 20th, 2012 09:07

Ebairsoft, wgc, red wolf, airsoft gi, airsoft global, etc I think a lot of retailers if not most of them sell them

PTS. Star pmags are crap.

All of my pmags work beautifully in my KA M4.

M.Garcia June 26th, 2012 07:52

You don't want to get STAR mags, they are crap as Killyin said.

If you want PMAGS then purchase the Magpul PTS from www.airsoftparts.ca. They are only $5 more than AirsoftGI so when you account for shipping and customs and all that jazz it's well worth $5 more.

I have purchased 3 of my own should be in today.

I'm not really jazzed up for spending a couple hundreds on mids, I have been looking into the MAG brand, people say they feed well but the construction and dissasembly ain't a walk in the park. The king arms mag looks pretty damn good... I heard that some king arms m4 feed really good but some won't even click in... I need some help what can fit and feed in the king arms m4 with a good price... $40 to $70 that comes with 5+ mids

M.Garcia June 26th, 2012 13:30

Again if you read above KA mags are you're best bet, however just like you mentioned it's not guaranteed. Do what I did, suck it up and buy something you can rely on.

Been running the same set of MAG mid caps for 3 years, no maintenance, and they are still truckin! Recommend.

MAG mags have also been good to me, however their springs die very quickly if left loaded for too long. My dad left 4 of his loaded for about 4-5 days and they're shot now.

How good is the construction? I heard a person saying they smacked 2 pieces of plastic then put a piece of spring... That changed my mind alot, well the build I'm not quite sure and I know they feed fantastic in the KA m4, will they handle falling down in sandy areas? SGT.Splatters is like a deathhole...

While the KA mags look good...I was turned off of "metal" mags in general because:
1. they cost more
2. only the shell is metal...the rest is just plastic insert
3. the shell can get squished/bent to where they don't engage the mag catch properly
4. with some wear and tear and hard usage you can pull a mag from a pouch and end up with just the shell in your hand while the rest of it is still in your pouch

I had many Mag/star mags. Some fed better/consistently than others. Big upsides:
1. They're cheap. If I drop one in the field I'm not going to sweat it and spend time looking for it.
2. They're solid...and draw from the pouch and engage mag catch reliably
3. There's no lip on them (like the lip with the metal sheel and plastic insert of other mags)...so they don't hang up in pouches
4. They're light...so while not "weight accurate" you don't notice the extra weight after longs days/games.
5. If you take care of them (like any other mag) they'll last a long time....certainly long enough to get a good bang for buck out of them.

Andre_1999 June 29th, 2012 11:43

Alright MAG mids then, thanks for the needed help!
