sniper for target shooting
Hey guys,
I'm just starting, and I am mostly interested in target shooting and not necessarily airsoft battling with others. Had to say that before everyone calls me a moron and tells me not to start with a sniper rifle. Anyway, back on topic, I'm looking at the Well L96 and the Well MB05, one for my brother and one for myself. Is there anywhere I can order this from in canada? I know Amazon has it, but I heard it was a hassle to ship airsoft across boarders, is this the case? If not would it be okay to buy from airsplat or amazon or ebay?? Would it be better to get age verified and get from someone on the forum? I'm not sure if I want to go through the hassle of age verification since I'm in university and I dont have that free time to run around the city looking for an age verifier at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thomas |
Why not get a pellet gun if you're just target shooting?
|
I'm not from Canada, but I think if you order from the states, your gun will get taken during customs. Nearly every post after this will tell you to get verified, and some might even make fun of you for calling it a "sniper". I believe the JG bar-10 and the L96 (I don't remember what brand) are usually the best options.

Honestly.
Just get a BB gun. It shoots farther, it shoots more accurately, and most importantly, its cheaper. Wasting your money on that TSD crap on buyairsoft won't be worth it. And if you're just plinking... Again, get a regular BB/pellet rifle. Otherwise you're just tossing cash into the firepit. |
JG BAR-10 are hard to find in canada...well on the Non-classified part of the forum ....AFAIK

A pellet gun will definatly be more precise and fun to shoot. Not to mention less expensive.

For those saying they are not available in Canada, he said that he is from the States.

3rd post was a different guy, giving his spiel about airsoft importation. |
sorry abt the confusion, im actually in canada but i was looking to see if i can import from the states.
i've never heard of a pellet gun, thanks for the headsup. what is the main difference between airsoft and pellet? |
Airsoft shoot 6mm .2g (usually) plastic bb's. Pellet guns usually shoot metal pellets.
|
Airsoft BB's are plastic and harmless. Pellets are metal and potentially lethal.
How old are you, that you don't know what a pellet gun is? I'm assuming pretty young.... |
actually now that u mention metal pellets i think i heard of it before.
Yeah i'm only 20, not around long enough to know too much yet! i realize this isnt a pellet gun forum, but i just did a quick search and it seemed pellet guns are around the $300 mark? i'm assuming for the same price i'll get something more accurate and more powerful with a pellet gun is that right? also, would it be ok to shoot on personal property? |

Will be tons more accurate than a stock WELL bolt action rifle unless your target is only 20-30 feet from you, then what's the point. what kind of personal property? unless you are in a rural area which allow for the discharge of guns/airguns you won't be able to sit in your yard and shoot. where are you located? you'll need to check with your local bylaws to make sure you're allowed to target shoot. |
Also be careful, some pellet guns you must have a PAL license to own. The ones you get from Canadian Tire 99% of the time should be safe (it must shoot under 500 FPS, with most being at the 495 FPS level).
Some of these pellet guns can get pretty expensive though (Anschutz biathlon rifles or target rifles can get pretty expensive that that's like top of the line stuff right there) but are way more accurate than an airsoft gun. I suggest going to Canadian Tire and picking up a Daisy (The Avanti series "Legend" model is pretty good for target shooting). There's also the Daisy-Winchester line that they teamed up to do together and the Daisy Powerline series. Then with Crosman there's a few you can get. I like the look of the Nightstalker and most of their CO2 line. but they still make "break barrel" and competition rifles as well. Good luck. |
