I am glad to see so many people in high speed boots, and not going cheap on such an important piece of kit. Maybe there is just a cheap gene here in MB?

I either use Magnums or CF standard with vibrams on them both are very comfortable and easy to move in yet light at the same time.

Good old Panama style Jungle boots
Sometime Desert boots in good heat.
In bad weather Redbird 8" Zip up

I have an Old School pair of Magnums that I've had for the past...Ooo...7-8 years. Just had to replace the sole and that's it. Some minor splits in the seaming and where the boot meets the sole, but nothing that I didn't fix with some Shoe Goo.

I just got a Pair of Bates Department of Defence Cold Weather boots. Gortex, 8" boots. Fit beautifully. Not steel toed, unfortunately, but I'm actually going to enjoy not having them in the winter and for kneeling.
Cheap bastards too! They're flipping all their stock so they're super cheap right now. Good stitching and Vibram soles! Woo!

Danner's all the way. I had my first pair of insulated Acadias for 14 years before they imploded. Got them while on course at Gagetown, and they withstood three summers of Inf Phase training, then field exercises with my militia reg't over the same period, and after that, another 11 years of general kicking around in the bush, which included 5 years of use in airsoft. They are without a doubt the best built boots I have owned. On my second pair of Acadias now.

just picked up a new pair of boots. was comparing prices between 8' magnums and 8' work boots. magnums were 180.00 plus tx, no shank protection,no steel or composite toe and only advertised as water resisant, comfortable upon fitting and lightweight. didnt trust them to hold up to the elements of b.c. weather and airsoft abuse. second choice was a pair of sorel work boots. composite toe, steel shank protection, triple stitching, 200gm's thinsulate and advertised as waterproof. price $169.00 and only half tx because of saftey rating. baptism by fire on last saturdays game, lets just say they are as tough as nails. feet stayed dry even after crossing the creek at panther field, mater of fact my feet were the only body part that was dry after the game.

I want a pair of those, but when I get on with EMS I get a pair, so no point buying them. :p

Belleville and prospectors.

I wear Swat 9" sidezips and the tactical waterproof everyday at work, and they SUCK in the bush. Best to keep them in an urban settings.

Bahahahahh H&H Brown Garrisons! Fucking beautiful boot. Excellent for a post-apocalyptic loadout (if worn in).

If Im feeling fancy, pink converse hightops. Otherwise I wear whatever the hell tan colored surplused boots I bought at the army surplus store. Tan in color, no shank, rubber toe, lace up pretty high too. They basically look like this.

But these are ten times the fuck more sexy.

I've got a pair of Prospectors for cold/wet weather and I'm picking up a pair of Welco jungle boots for warm weather.

Brian McIlmoyle October 8th, 2007 00:50

I have a boot "problem"

According to my wife.

Bellville hot weather boot, good for summer, good tred, good support, Picked up lightly used at a surplus shop.

CF, Prospectors, wet weather Gortex, a good cool wet weather boot, but not light... still very comfortable.. Again picked up lightly used at a surplus shop.
( going to need to re-sole these before long)

Original Swat, 9" side zip... Indoor/ Urban use only.. have held up better than I thought they would... don't use the side zip, and won't bother with it when I replace these.

Got a pair of Welco hot weather "anti Mine" boots as well... I like them because they add 1.5 inches to my height.... but they are a little "tippy" would not recommend them for regular use.. but good if you are going for a particular "impression"

I think my favorite all time boots are a pair of Ariat Riding boots... full length to the knee...would be excellent for a WW2 German officer impression... but I paid $1000 for them.. so I doubt they will see the field any time soon, But they are an awsome boot for riding...
