Mmmmm might get a Masada after all.. :)

hattrick January 12th, 2009 19:32

I dont like it, looks like a scar with downsyndrome.

Drake January 12th, 2009 19:39

I dunno, I like it better than the SCAR.

Hope Magpul (and whomever is doing their PTS counterpart) deliver their version soon.

Maybe their piping hot anger at being beaten to the punch, again, on airsoft versions of their own RS products will drive them to move faster in the future?

Dynamo January 12th, 2009 20:22

i would love to get one, but not this version.
the latest version has the charging handle/forward assist placed on the front half of the reciver to make room for rail mounted optics.

Well, they don't produce their own airsoft/PTS items (MIAD grips were made by MSInfinity, PMAGs by STAR and whomever, etc). I slightly suspect they COULD have had the airsoft version of the Masada/ACR out by now, but having it out before the RS version (where they do suffer horribly trying to get mass production off the ground; just look at the UBR stock) would most likely alienate their main market, whom already criticize them heavily for their involvement in airsoft items when production for real items is so far behind schedule (even though it's not being produced directly by them).

So this may well be a double whammy for Magpul, not having the ACR out, and having to hold off releasing the PTS version while the ACM version is poised to flood the market.

I find it doubly unfortunate that Magpul keeps their airsoft clients at such arms' length. It's clear they keep their ear to the ground, they knew about ACM Masada and other developments (I don't think they monitor their backwater, Liberal-leaning, Iraq-uninvolved neighbors up North here on ASC, but they do seem to follow what's going on at Arnie's). But they don't seem willing to put a rep out to develop ties with the community. They're a relatively small company, and they would probably benefit greatly from the "mom and pop shop" approach.

Magpul is not manufacturing the Masada.. they licensed it to Bushmaster for production.

Bushmaster made some changes, Ambi charging handle on the fore end .. rather than the moveable one as on the prototype.

Risc_Terilia January 14th, 2009 12:11

What mags do they take? Look like AUG.

they take standard M4/M16 mags and Magpul PMAGs.

to use anything other than PMAGs would be a crime.

lol its soo true, pmags + masada = hot

OK. OK.

Being a SCAR head, I need to chime in here.

I've been interested in this rifle since it's conception. I'm a big fan of modern assault rifles.

I've handled every SCAR on the market, with the exception of the JLS (pretty much DBoys level).

I have 2 SCARs myself. A VFC SCAR CQC and a Classic Army SCAR CQC.

Having handled all of these AEG's, I must say, the range of quality from high to low is remarkable.

I won't let a DBoys NEAR my VFC. The CA is very nice, but nowhere near th VFC.

Please, oh please, wait for the MAGPUL branded one. I can see very poor moulding in those pictures. This is ACM.

If you want this insanely, orgasm inspiring assault rifle, I strongly suggest that you wait.

Maybe VFC will make one? If they do, buy it. If Classic Army makes one, buy it. But I would suggest you wait until there are comparison reviews.

This is just my two cents.

thanks

The Saint January 14th, 2009 15:21

I suspect that STAR would make a Masada, since they already seem to have an agreement with Magpul to produce the economic line of PMAGs.

Drake January 14th, 2009 16:26

The version with the UBR -ish stock (in Dynamo's pic) is mad sexy. The handguard still needs help, though. The real world users want rails, the throwback handguard isn't going to impress anyone at this point.
