Hmm, it looks like a different color in the last photos...
|
different lamp in the room was on during the shoot maybe? I let the photoshop does the white balancing, most of the time its pretty consistent, but I guess if I change the lighting source it'll do some funny thing....

Minor update, bought Nine-Ball full length recoil guide + spring from Jar|-|ead, and I did some minor work to the GI sight to make it easier to see. Sanded the magazine too, and although you won't be able to see it in the pic, I did some work to the mag insert to create somewhat of an magwell effect....

Mmm...misfire...i see a weak primer maybe?
sweet gun dude. looks pretty sweet with the grips, although i never felt comfy with it. |
Notice any performance improvements after installing the NB guide?

The cycling is definitely smoother, you can feel it by cycling by hand too, and the spot where the slide used to stick if slide is not hand cycled fully(which causes the slide to sit like 2 mm back from full battery) is gone. The guide rod is pretty cool since it also has a bearing on the spring base...I wonder if I can use this on Hi-Capa as well...
inert round from scarecrow.....:D |
update on that laylax recoil rod....it seems that it's not as robust as I thought. Running on propane on stock internal the spring base portion broke off from the actual shaft(I think the 2 part were pressed together to facilitate usage of bearing and washer), basically the shaft just flew out while firing.....I am back to using stock setup with the Laylax spring....should've ran with a rubber washer, which might dampen the impact a bit to that rod....
|
The tanio koba full length guide rod is VERY robust, and will withstand propane :)
|
That sucks RM. I think Hks had that same problem when he had the 9ball rod. Check out the Carom recoil rod. Thats what I have in my Delta and its feels very sturdy. One piece and is made of steel instead of aluminum which I'm assuming the 9ball one is made of.
|
9-ball one is stainless steel, its just that since they use the special bearing system at the spring perch that base perch is a seperate piece from the rest of the guide, which I guess was a pressed fit. But since its a 1911 rod it was drilled at the end to fit the 1911 style hop-up housing and I guess the press fit is loose....
I actually did manage to fix it, and actuall am running this rod on my Hi-Capa(with a buffer this time) to see how much abuse my industrial strength adhesive-fix can take.....it's been about 200 rounds since the fix.... I think I will run it like that for now and until it breaks again. In the meantime I'll track down another full length rod for the 1911.... |
crap sorry to hear that RM...that never happened to me when it was in my 1911..but yeah hoping to see that next week.
|
I think the lack of buffer when I ran it probably did it in....but hey it's still only $20 and it still is working after I fixed it!
