G&G releasing the M1903A3 Springfield
http://www.airsoft2day.com/news/1250...ringfield.html
http://i39.tinypic.com/1zm2tk2.jpg Guay Guay Trading Co. Ltd. in Taiwan will shortly release their M1903A3 Springfield bolt action rifle into the airsoft market; announced at SHOT Show 2013, the model missed its initial target release date but now seems almost certain to be available for purchase come late January 2014. As written previously within another article, airsoft companies KTW, Classic Airsoft, S&T Armament, and Zeta Lab have each respectively produced M1903 Springfield replicas of their own; nevertheless, G&G Armament's iteration does boast a number of quality details that warrant consideration. Along with a one-piece laminated wood stock, the model features many steel parts including the whole gas bolt carrier, the bolt handle, bolt sleeve, anti-slide rod, the hammer, valve knocking piece, and both front and rear sling swivels.[1] A functioning bolt safety lock, release lever, and low-profile hop-up dial only further complement the replica's quality. Already available for pre-order at CWI Airsoft for 420 USD, a ceremonial version of the G&G M1903A3 in silver chrome finish can now be reserved as well. They have been "ready to release" that for almost as long as their Garand, so since we have all seen their Garand I am so excited to get one of these. Oh wait, no one has seen their Garand. So I expect it will come out by Christmas. Just not sure of what year.
|
I'm excited for this, but I suppose they will actually have to release it for me to be able to get one.
|
Yeah, I want one too. But I have wanted it since I first heard it almost ready, which was about a week after the Kar98 came out. That's also about the time they were "about to release" their Garand. Its kinda become a "I will believe it when I see it" thing. I have wanted a Springfield for years and hope it actually does come out soon. Its bout the only bolt gun I can actually see myself gaming.
|
It finally came in. Matrix (AGM) MG42 AEG. I was in a hurry today so I didn't take my time taking these photos. Sorry for the bad pics.
First impression: Wow, this thing is massive. I've never seen a real MG42, so I don't know how it compares to this but it's a bit bigger than I imagined, and it's not light. The shipping weight was 25.5 lbs. Not sure how much the AEG weighs but I imagine it'll wear me out in the field. The color looks good. The receivers look nice and flat black. The handguard is a bit more shinier than I like, but it's still not bad. I noticed that some paint chipped off already at places like the iron sights where metal parts hinge and also some parts like the bipod and screws on the top cover were loose. I have to tighten them. I'm not sure if it was made like this or if Evike did it (I needed them to change the spring to pass Canada regulations). The wood stock looks good. Twists on and off firmly. My repro MG42 sling didn't fit. The spot at the grip is too wide for it. I got a few projects going right now so I probably won't go into the gearbox soon. Maybe some more detail pics later. :) http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...2C1238FBFC.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...2CA18D4A96.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...D050389726.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...DB07A5B1B3.jpg It barely fits in my Condor MG bag with the stock removed. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...77C8B00B3C.jpg |
That orange flashhider.....
The MG34/42 slings also do not fit well on the RWA MG34. The grip is too fat. Take pics of how the drum mag feeds into the gun and whats under the top cover plz. Also, the battery storage. |
Well now, that is the first actual photo that I have seen of this thing. Ladies and Gentlemen, after what, 4 years of WW2 fans being yanked around there is FINALY a MG42 released.
|
damn... now.. RS Tavor... or AS Mg42? I'm on the horns
|
As requested, pictures of the feeding mechanism and drum.
I'm not familiar with MG's. Can someone tell me what this does? Does it draw power from the AEG battery instead of using AA's? Or is this a signal wire signalling the motor to pick up bb's? The instructions just tells you to connect the connector to the gun, it doesn't say what it is. Here's a pic of the feed tube and a little connector. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...FD11191DA8.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...A0D9E1D668.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...2AD36A5B14.jpg You can see where the paint is already scratched from me trying to insert the drum. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...DBF711C64B.jpg There's a little bit of movement with this plate. It could potentially cause a misalignment of the feed hole... I will play around with this to see if it can be shimmed or tightened, when I have time. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...9EC1D2FF90.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...AA784F43EF.jpg Battery compartment. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...F89CB5CA07.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...5967AACDFB.jpg |
Here's the drum fitted to the gun with the feed tube inserted. Giggidy. I kinda wish the adaptor wasn't there. I was going to buy some Mauser rounds on a belt and complete the look. That little door can slide open wider.
http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...6EF90EBF46.jpg Original battery. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...81EB0AE37C.jpg The battery pushed all the way into the receiver. The compartment extends to about where the stub on the wood stock begins. It has room for a larger battery. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...8A7DEAD041.jpg |
god dammit, why cant my MG34 have battery storage like that?
and yea, that little connector probably gives it the ability to wind up the drum mag when you press the trigger. |

If anyone cares, I tested the drum mag of the MG42 and it pitifully pushed out bb's at about 10 bps with occasionally gaps in the feed.
Upgrade time! |
Does anyone know how to disassemble the AGM MG42? I'm stuck at a point where the gearbox loose inside the receiver but there isn't enough clearance to slide it out. :( I'm not sure what I'm missing.
|
Okay, I literally worked on this problem for about an hour and right after I made the last post somehow got the gearbox to split in half, allowing the pieces to fall through the receiver. It looks like there was only tappet plate that was putting pressure on the bottom half?? I wonder if it was even necessary to remove the top portion... (I've never worked on a split gearbox before.)
http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...2a9e08df1c.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...3A239FF07F.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...25BDA214C9.jpg |
That is one strange design! Jeez...
Seems like the top part is pretty beefy, should be pretty durable I hope? Thanks for sharing, hopefully you can work that out. |
a split gearbox? i thought it was a standard V2??
|
Evike page discloses the gearbox as "Custom Full Metal, Fully Upgradeable....Compatible with Ver.2 Internal Parts (except proprietary air nozzle)"
The Evike MG42 is under the S&T "Brand" from what I understand. |
Took apart the upper gearbox. It uses T8 torx screws.
http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...8284EEA8DD.jpg The cylinder head is not a standad V2 one. There seems to be some sort of padding, 2.7 mm deep. It feels a lot firmer than my 70 sorbo. The nozzle itself is also longer at 29 mm. It seems to have some sort of taper design. I can feel resistance as the nozzle moves towards the cylinder head. The tip of the cylinder head is 21.3 mm long. I'm not sure what the purpose of this is. It seems to hinder tappet plate movement. The stock piston has zero compression. I can move the piston in and out of the cylinder with my finger sealing the cylinder head, with only slight resistance. Swapping in a new piston/piston head immediately improves compression. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...52867996E3.jpg AOE is at about 11:30 position. Does anyone know if this cylinder head/nozzle setup is from another gun? Quote:
I will report back after I take apart the lower gearbox. I'm planning on installing the SC 10.44 single sector gear set into it. Edit: Took apart the lower gearbox, also held by T8 torx. There seems to be almost no grease on the bevel gear. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...E18FF0F4DC.jpg The gears all say "X" on them. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...F5F39C924B.jpg Here is the trigger trolley. It's one unit with a return spring inside. The switch on top activates the motor on the drum. The switch seem to have been glued in place and is very fragile. Trying to pull it out with my pliers cracked the switch. I pried it out with a pick instead. The button also feels very loose. Good thing I won't be need it since I'm wiring it to the main battery. The contacts are close together so it's possible to pull the trigger slightly to shoot but not activate the feeder. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...6F29FC3D40.jpg The SC 10.44 SSG set seems to fit in the gearbox half, which should suggest that it will work with other V2 gear sets. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...A6DA44AED0.jpg |

Might be time to sell off the Marushin now.

GMG42 - YouTube
This looks very promising. If this unit does all the things it shows in the video it could be a must have weapon. |
Tiker probably sold one of his kidneys to get MG34, time for him to start looking for a buyer for that remaining kidney :)

I'm really enjoying that G&G isn't just pumping out crappy M4 variants like everyone else.
Very excited to see these hit the market, I want one. Right meow. |
Ok, G&G is seriously steeping up their game with their MG42. Wow, just wow...

Any one make a sterling by chance , love to have one

i love the fact of being able to replace the barrel, great to have both barrels that has a different length of inner barrel for both CQB and outdoor

Just got my hands on the WE P38 :)
https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...a7&oe=562AC1BC So far, it's great.. Feels much more robust (and looks that way) than their Luger. Only a few small quirks, nothing that cannot be fixed (IE Decocking piece that's broken, I touch on it in the short little video below) Will be doing some field testing July 11th. Short little video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeymDWZ7Z8A |
How much and where from? (You can PM me the last bit if that's cool)
|
|
I would love to own an M1 Carbine Paratrooper but judging from the videos, I'm not too impressed with the sound and recoil on the King Arms. :/
|
Unfortunately it is almost a direct clone of the Marushin, with some internal differences. Same zinc alloy for the important bits so it will probably have the same issues with breaking parts.
I have an M2 carbine that I managed to fix the broken bolt on after several tries- see the thread below. http://ww2aa.proboards.com/thread/11...crollTo=135344 On the plus side, if enough of the KA carbines sell maybe RA will start making the steel parts again. Cheers |
what's up with no g43 in all this time

I'd love to see one of those old russian machine guns the DP
hopefully with the gun popping up in rainbowsix siege we'll see the airsoft community get some buzz into creating it. http://www.2ndguards.com/Images/Equi...202/dp%203.jpg http://miniaturearsenal.com/i/catitem_big_1_51.jpg |

Anyone got any word on how the KA M1 carbine performs? I'm on the fence whether to buy one or not and im concerned about its reliability and if there are any parts prone to breakage.

Yeap, another Shell ejecting joyous wonder... I'll stick with my converted VSR. |

Skeletor, it's being tested with AGM guts as far as I know but don't quote me on it until person who is doing it will put in final word. I have nothing to do with the project except for being a friend to a developer.
Strelok, you will hear about it in a few months. One of our guys picked it up. Wood didn't look all that great from what I heard. He refinished it right-away. Curo, no shit :) I'd love to have a non shell ejecting springer K98. When I want to "eject shells" I just use my 1944 Mauser :) |
My 1943 mauser ejects shells too! It also shoots accurately up to a kilometer. Can't use that one in games though.
If they ever came up with a way to make shells as cheap as BB's? Sure, I'd be all over that. But for the meantime i'll stick with my PPS Kar98k. And thanks 666! I kinda figured that'd be the case with the external finish, but you guys know me. I can't leave that shit alone until it looks right. Haha. |
Maybe start a petition and forward it to airsoft manufacturers? People in the old country have "rifle only" operation Barbarossa themed WW2 events where ratio of SMG and rifles is something like 2 to 10. Mostly custom made rifles of course. Looks really good!
Another thing, have you ever tried blank fire? We have some events over here, not as big as in states of course and it's mostly about immersion, not firing hundreds of rounds. Unlike in airsoft, someone who is firing a Garand or G43 at you from 100 meters will keep peoples heads down :) We even tried mixing airsoft and blanks at one point. Worked really well. Quote:

randomly off topic, Anyone Interested in the KWA MP40? Looks Interesting

I really wish there was some GOOD Russian WWII other than the damn PPsH, as much as I love the PPsH :P
|
I have a love/hate relationship with my PPSH40. The microswitches have gotten me killed so many times.

Ares? I never had a problem with Hexagon one. Semi auto failed even before I bought it but FA works every time I pull the trigger.

Plenty of customs are out there but when it comes to mass production - there are no conventional mechboxes that will fit any of mentioned guns unless you want them to look out of proportion or have paper thin receivers... Only way I see it happening is making a mechbox out of steel with really thin walls and fitting it into a receiver that is a bit fatter than real deal or making GBB system.
Quote:

Yeah, mines an Ares, or atleast a clone of. (S&T).
Its easily one of my most favorite guns. Super easy to maintain and clear jams with the break open design. Its a little laser, too~ |
Russian reenactors whine about no SVT
German reenactors whine about no G43 Yanks finally got their Garand Brits are probably going to get a shell ejecting No.4 |
Frankly we don't have a lot to complain about.
MP40 - yep a couple of Models STG44- yep MG34- yes MG42 - yes Luger- yes P38 - yes K98 - yes ( a few in fact most not suitable for use in battles ) not that long ago .. none of these existed .. so what exactly are we whining about ? |

I want my gas/spring powered Mk3 SMLE. I would jump on something like a PPS SMLE Mk3 if it was as good as their Kar98k. And they are probably the only manufacturer that has the potential to make a game-able Lee Enfield in the close future. |
Im super impressed with PPS guns. I run a Kar98k by them and its a consistent tackdriver for an airsoft gun. Its honestly on par with my upgraded VSR10. I'm debating either getting a second receiver, or a whole new gun to mount a replica ZF39 optic on.
